SirVent Franchise FAQ’s
What type of prior experience do I need to have?
SirVent franchise owners are not required to have prior chimney cleaning and repair or other industry-related experience, but it can be helpful to understand the basics of running a business like ours. In fact, we welcome the opportunity to open a dialogue with existing chimney and dryer vent or other home improvement businesses who wish to add the SirVent system to or convert their current operations. Regardless of your experience or background, we will provide the training and tools needed to effectively operate a quality-focused SirVent business. In general, we are seeking franchise candidates who have good communications and customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and a dedication to the local community. A solid understanding of business management is also important, and sales skills are also helpful. We expect franchise owners to have adequate capital to invest in the business, and we also expect franchise owners to be directly involved in the daily operations of the franchise business.
What type of training will I receive as part of the SirVent franchise system?
Before your business opens, we will provide you and one other person with a mandatory initial training program. Our total training program includes approximately 20 hours of webinars to be completed before you attend Level 1 training. Level 1 training lasts for approximately 11 days and covers HR, sales, pricing, customer service, job safety, service and repair procedures, marketing and advertising, and more. Level 2 training is offered two to three months after you have completed Level 1 training and have been operating your franchised business, and lasts for approximately five days. It covers more advanced inspection and repair services. Level 3 training is offered two to three months after you have completed Level 2 training, and lasts for approximately five days. Level 3 training covers additional types of heating systems, installation techniques, report writing, estimates and contracts, and more. We will also provide you and your staff with local training around the time of your location’s grand opening, and ongoing on-site and remote support as needed. As a franchise owner, you will have access to all of SirVent’s trademarks, approved product suppliers, and our exclusive business model and procedures. We’ll also present you with a copy of our confidential operations manual to help you run your chimney and venting franchise business properly on a day-to-day basis.
How much is the SirVent franchise investment?
The total investment necessary to begin operation of a start-up SirVent franchise is anywhere from $97,882 to $185,482. This includes between $40,980 and $41,729 for a start-up franchise, or between $25,980 and $26,729 for a conversion franchise; this investment amount also includes a franchise fee of $30,000. As with any new business venture, it’s important that you have the capital needed to adequately fund your new business.
Is financing available?
We do not offer direct financing at this time to start-up franchisees, but may be able to provide references to qualified financing or lending resources, on a case-by-case basis. However, we do contemplate offering financing options for existing franchisees who wish to purchase an additional territory.
Are there other ongoing fees paid to the franchisor?
SirVent will charge a graduated royalty starting at 8% for gross sales up to $150,000; 7% for sales of $150,001 to $200,000; 6% for sales of $200,001 to $300,000; 5% for sales of $300,001 to $400,000; 4% for sales of $400,001 to $500,000; and 3% for sales over $500,000. For conversion franchises, the Royalty Fee is waived (not payable) during the first year of operation as a SirVent business. During the second year of operation, the Royalty Fee percentage is one-half of the Royalty Fee payable by a start-up franchise (between 1.5% and 4% of Gross Sales based on the above thresholds). After the second year of operation, conversion franchises pay the Royalty Fee at the same rate as start-up franchises. These royalties allow us to fund our ongoing support services and the continued development of products and procedures, marketing tools, training programs, and systems upgrades.
Are there any advertising fees?
Franchisees will be required to spend a minimum monthly amount of 12% of gross sales in the first year of operation, 10% in the second year, and 8% the third year and thereafter, toward local marketing efforts in their territories. Franchisees will also contribute up to 3% of gross sales into the brand development fund. Collected funds will be used to develop marketing strategies to promote the SirVent brand and fund the creative costs to develop any local franchise marketing materials and campaigns.
What is the term of the franchise agreement?
The initial term of your franchise agreement is five years, with three subsequent renewal terms of five years each.
