When a new year starts, people make goals. If you’re a business owner, then you’ll want to make some goals for your business. Whether you’re dreaming of expanding your business or remodeling, the most important is to make sure that your business is doing well and growing, and the best way to do that is, obviously, by letting people know what your business is all about. Marketing is where it’s at, and today marketing is easier than ever because you can reach a lot of people at one time through the power of the internet. In fact, email marketing is known to work very effectively. However, you need to realize that there are many other ways to market your business as well. When it comes to making goals for your business for the new year, marketing should be your number one focus. Read on for five ways to market your business in 2020.
#1 Use Your Community Effectively
A lot goes into your decision about where you locate your business, but one of the most important things is whether you really like the area or not. Because you love the community, you want to make sure that things are going well in that community. But you can also use that love of your community to help your business grow. Take advantage of opportunities to sponsor local events, like a 5k run, the kids’ Little League team, or the local school’s drama program’s fundraiser. This will get your name out among the locals. Make sure that you attend local events, too, so that you can open up lines of communication and network with any potential customers. This can lead to opportunities to meet even more people who can help offer advice or contacts with people who can help your business grow.
#2. Offer to Visit Local Schools or Classes
Another great way to market your business at the local level is to volunteer to speak at a local school. It’s a great feeling to inspire a new generation of business owners, and what better way to do that than to talk to kids directly. Teachers are always looking for ways to enhance their lessons, and getting an expert in to talk about what they know best is a wonderful way to educate students. Give your local school a call and let them know that you’d be willing to talk to students. Or volunteer to be on a panel where you can answer questions along with other business owners. A side benefit of this is that you might find a student or two who would work as an intern at your business, or even meet a couple of potential employees!
#3. Get Referrals
You do great work, so take advantage of that and ask your satisfied customers to give referrals! Not just anyone can do the great work that you do, and you’ve got a ton of happy customers, so ask them to write it up. You can put a link to the referral letters on your website and then people can read all about what you do and how well you do it. Also, encourage your customers to spread the word of your great work to their neighbors. There’s no better way to gain the trust of the community you’re located in then to have the word spread from their trusted friends and neighbors.
#4. Offer Deals and Specials
You can’t grow a business if no one has tried your product. What’s a great way to get people to try it? By offering them a deal! Everyone likes a bargain, so if you offer a deal, people will take you up on it. There are several different ways to do this. One is to offer a discount for first-time users. Another is to print out coupons or offer on-line coupons for certain items. In fact, don’t be afraid to offer a free deal for first-time users. Once you get people to try your great service, there’s no way they’ll go anywhere else!
#5. Build Relationships
When it comes right down to it, there is nothing that can market your business better than building relationships. You need to get to know your customers, their likes and their dislikes, and especially what they need or don’t need. By getting to know your neighbors, you know what it is they need. In fact, you might even come up with an idea for something new to offer to the community. It’s important to know what your community needs, so put yourself out there. Get to know your neighbors, your community members!
